In part: Iggy Pop's manager requested to see the film and, as soon as he saw it, Iggy agreed to record the title track. The soundtrack was kept a secret from Michael Nesmith as he was by no means a fan of punk rock; "At the time, his favorite was Jimmy Buffet, you see, but we stuck to our guns," explains Alex Cox (Director).
